BHM (PAL™) AIR LOCK
The BHM "FLUID FLOW" PNU AIR LOCK (PAL™)
is a unique devise designed and built to be used at the hopper discharge, replacing
motorized rotary air locks. It passes solids between two different pressure
environments, all in the absence of moving parts. The "air lock" is
established by the mass discharge material in the inlet area of the BHM
(PAL™) combined with the solids in the discharge area of the
BHM (PAL™). In a static mode, the lock is merely filling
up, backing up into the hopper until the air lick is fluidized. Upon fluidization,
the mass becomes active, behaving much like a pan of boiling water. This activity
caused the material to act as a fluid, seeking its own level. This causes the
solids to flow over the discharge weir until the dust in the hopper has been
depleted. The mechanism for fluidization is compressed air, introduced via the
automatically controlled solenoid valve on the air supply line. The cycle may
be an automatically "timed" cycle or it may be a cycle based on "demand"
initiated by a level control in the hopper. The BHM (PAL™)
can be installed directly on the discharge of the hopper or at the screw conveyor
discharge on larger units.
